I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and I have been working as a freelance book editor and copy-editor for more than 25 years. I’m one of the authors of the CIEP’s online course Introduction to Fiction Editing.
For two decades I was also an author at the travel-guide publisher Rough Guides, for whom I wrote guidebooks about Thailand, Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The Rough Guide to Thailand won the Thomas Cook Best Guidebook Award.
Having lived and worked abroad – in Japan, Thailand and France – I also specialise in rewriting non-native speakers’ text into fluent English. In Japan I was the editor of listings magazine Kansai Time Out. I am currently learning Mandarin and I have edited a number of English translations of Chinese fiction.
